Overview

This project was about more than portraits. It was about documenting the quiet magic of where creation begins.

The studio belonged to a ceramic artist—sunlit, worn, filled with hand-shaped tools and shelves of imperfect beauty. We didn’t stage a thing. I simply observed as she worked: mixing clay, turning forms, moving between rhythm and rest.

There was a hush to the space. You could hear every sound—the scrape of a wheel, the soft thud of hands shaping earth. Light streamed through high windows, catching dust in the air like floating stories.

The Artist’s Space is a quiet portrait of process, place, and presence. A reminder that the spaces we create in are just as important as what we create.

Shot on digital and 35mm film. Edited with soft grain, natural tones, and minimal retouching to honor the rawness of the moment.
